The Center's 4th Birthday Celebration
12:00 p.m., "Where's The Trail?" A slide-show lecture by Paul Harden, President of the Camino Real IHC Foundation, will
answer the question most commonly asked by visitors: Wheres the trail? The disappearing trail cannot directly be seen from the Center.
However, there are remnants of the trail still visible from Doņa Ana into Santa Fe. This includes areas just east of the Center
along the Jornada del Muerto, across the river from Socorro, and the west branch of the Camino Real through Fort Craig. Harden
explores these sections of the trail with historic and modern day photos and maps of the trail, major landmarks along El Camino
Real, wagons in use, and other information on travel along the historic trail over the centuries. Suitable for all ages.
1:00 p.m., Folklorico Dance Performance. A special ballet folklorico dance performance by students from Alamogordo,
New Mexico. Directed by Lina Guzman, the dance group is composed of students of various ages who are devoted to learning and preserving
the tradition of Mexican folk dance and music. Bring your camera and enjoy this special performance.
